React and .NET are two of the most in-demand skills in software development — React for fast, interactive front ends, and .NET for reliable APIs and business applications. They are also two of the hardest roles to hire for locally in many markets. That's why product teams in the US, UK, Europe, the Middle East and Australia increasingly hire offshore React and .NET developers from India. Done well, it gives you experienced engineers in weeks instead of months. Done badly, it gives you missed deadlines and code you have to rewrite. Here's how to get it right.

Decide which engagement model you need

  • Dedicated developer: one or more engineers who work full time on your product, inside your team, tools and processes. Best when you have a roadmap and a tech lead, and need more hands.
  • Dedicated team: a small unit — developers, QA and a tech lead — that owns a product or module. Best when you need delivery capacity but don't have the management bandwidth to direct every developer.
  • Project outsourcing: a fixed scope delivered for a fixed price. Best for small, well-defined pieces of work such as an integration or a migration.

If you're weighing offshore developers against growing your own team, our guide to dedicated development teams vs in-house hiring walks through the trade-offs.

Write a role profile, not just a tech stack

"Senior React developer" means very different things to different companies. Before you talk to any vendor, write down what the developer will actually do in their first three months, and the specific tools involved. For example:

  • React: React with TypeScript, Next.js or a plain single-page app, state management (Redux, Zustand or React Query), component libraries, testing with Jest and React Testing Library, and how the front end talks to your APIs.
  • .NET: ASP.NET Core Web APIs, Entity Framework Core, SQL Server or PostgreSQL, background jobs, authentication, and hosting on Azure or AWS — or modernizing an older .NET Framework application.
  • Seniority: whether they'll take tasks from a ticket, or design features, review code and mentor others.

Evaluate developers the way you'd evaluate an employee

A good offshore partner screens candidates technically before you see them, but you should still interview every developer who joins your project. A practical evaluation tells you far more than a résumé:

  1. A short conversation about a recent project: what they built, what went wrong, and what they'd do differently.
  2. A live code walk-through or small pairing exercise in your stack — reading and changing real code, not solving puzzles.
  3. A discussion of a design problem from your product, to see how they ask questions and handle trade-offs.
  4. A check of written and spoken English, since most collaboration will happen in chat, tickets and pull requests.

Plan time zones and communication up front

India Standard Time is 4.5 to 5.5 hours ahead of the UK, 3.5 to 4.5 hours ahead of continental Europe, and 9.5 to 13.5 hours ahead of the US depending on the coast and daylight saving. That's workable with a plan. Agree on a daily overlap window of two to four hours for stand-ups, reviews and questions, and let the rest of the day be focused development time. Many teams find the time difference becomes an advantage: work handed over in the evening is reviewed and progressed by the next morning.

  • Give offshore developers access to the same Slack or Teams channels, Jira or Azure DevOps boards and Git repositories as everyone else.
  • Keep tickets clear and small, with acceptance criteria, so work doesn't stall waiting for answers.
  • Hold a short weekly demo so everyone sees progress, not just status updates.

Understand the real cost

Offshore developers cost less than equivalent local hires, but compare total cost, not just monthly rates. An in-house hire also carries recruitment fees, benefits, equipment, office space, payroll administration and the months it takes to fill the role. With a dedicated developer, those are included in one monthly fee — and you can scale down without severance. Be wary of rates that look far below the market: they usually mean junior engineers, shared developers, or high turnover.

Protect your code, IP and data

  • Sign an NDA and a contract that assigns all intellectual property created for you to your company.
  • Keep code in your own repositories and cloud accounts, and grant access per developer so it can be revoked at any time.
  • Agree on security practices: company-managed devices, multi-factor authentication, and no production data on personal machines.

Onboard them like any new team member

The fastest-ramping offshore developers are the ones treated as part of the team from day one. Give them a working development environment, architecture notes, a first small task that touches the real codebase, and a named person to ask questions. Expect a new developer to be productive on simple tasks within the first two weeks and fully up to speed within a month or two, as with any hire.

A checklist for choosing an offshore partner

  1. Developers work only on your project — not split across several clients.
  2. You interview and approve every developer before they start.
  3. Transparent monthly pricing and a short notice period for scaling up or down.
  4. A clear replacement process if a developer leaves or isn't the right fit.
  5. Proven experience in your stack — React, .NET, Angular, Python or cloud platforms.
  6. Contracts that give you full ownership of code and IP.

HBT Integrisys provides dedicated React, .NET, Angular and Python developers from our engineering centre in Nagercoil, Tamil Nadu. Every developer is technically evaluated before you meet them, you choose who joins your project, and you can start with a single engineer and scale from there.
